Careers In Teaching, 43K views · 752 reactions | 🤫I was guilty of all 3 of these things when I was a corporate recruiter… and before you go off in the comments and tell me how terrible, let me explain. www.TheInterviewology.com 🏢A Corporate recruiter’s job is NOT to make your job search easier. ▪️They are employed by the company, and they are incentivized if they make great hires. ▪️They want to make their hiring managers happy and keep turnover low. ▪️They want to keep the hiring in house and not use external recruiters so they can justify their job. 👩🏼‍💻With the advent of AI and applicant tracking systems their jobs are easier when it comes to organizing the resume database, but the new technology has actually made applying easier, so they are inundated with resumes. And most of the resumes they receive are not a good fit so now a lot of a recruiter’s job is to sift through hundreds of bad resumes… therefore they don’t even open the resume database because it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. You know what they do instead? They cold call people who are actively working at their competition and they recruit internally; they ask their current employees to refer them people. That’s how hiring really works. So, the next time you go to blindly apply to a job, remember this. Recruiters are getting 300-500 resumes for each job they post.
