An executive summary is a brief but impactful summary of your qualifications, experience, and skills. Your executive summary should be short and to the point, not more than 2 to 3 short sentences. 👩🏾‍💻 Here’s an example, Dynamic marketing leader with 6+ years of track record of driving brand awareness, customer engagement, and revenue growth in the consumer goods industry. Skilled at developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns, building high-performing teams, and establishing strong partnerships with key stakeholders. Passionate about driving customer-centric strategies and leveraging data analytics to optimize marketing performance. 3️⃣ Don’t put education at the top of your resume. Even if you went to Harvard, recruiters really don’t care about that as much, they care about where you are currently working. ✅ Instead always lead with your professional experience. Your resume layout should be Name, Contact Info (Email, phone and LinkedIn link) Executive Summary (with skills) Professional Experience, Education and Certifications 4️⃣ Don’t use the same template that you’ve been using for the last 15 years. Be honest with me, have you been using the same template since college? You’re just squeezing jobs onto an old template. ✅ Instead find a new template that is modern and works better for your industry/career. 💪Pro-tip, if you have less than 10 years experience you can have a 1 page resume, more than 10 years of experience you can have 2 pages but never more than 2 pages. 5️⃣ Don’t cut and paste bullets from your job description for your resume bullets. ✅ Instead write great bullets with action words and metrics.
